I Challenge You!!! ~ Week #7

Well sounds like we are in for another winter storm....again! I have been in one of those funks that are caused by a winter that won't quit, whinny kids and to much to do and no desire to do it. I guesse that is what they call the "Winter Blues". So needless to say I have not gotten any pages done in the last few weeks but I am going tho throw out a challenge anyway just in case some of you are more motivated than I am. Here it is!!
Take 5 photos of the town you live in. They can be of buildings, nature, your home anything in your town. Use all 5 on your page.
Shapes: Diamonds
Color Combinations: Subtle Pastels
Good Luck & Have Fun!!!

New Weekly Challenge ~ Get Organized Challenge!!! ~ Week #1

Sometimes a good challenge gets us off our butt and helps us get moving forward. I know I would like to be more organized as I am sure everyone does. Scrapbooking stuff gets unorganized pretty fast if you don't keep up on it so I thought a weekly challenge might get us organized a little bit at a time. So here is this weeks challenge!!
Fiber & Fabric Organizing
Get creative and find a all your fiber and fabric you use for your scrapping gather it all up in one place. Now sort out what you will never use and either save it for a swap ( it is a good idea to put all your swap stuff in one place like a small box so when you do a swap you will be ready) or donate it. Now comes the hard part. Put on your thinking cap and think of some creative ways to store all your fiber and fabric. You will love the new organized stash and you will find things you forgot you had .
Don't forget to post your creative ideas in the comments and in group for all of us to share. Also take a picture of your newly organized stuff and post it in the group album and I will grab them up and post them in the blog.
GOOD LUCK!!!

I Challenge You!!! ~ Week #6

How to Download a Digital Scrapbooking Freebie

Last weeks challenge involved downloading digital freebies. I had a few questions on how to do this. It is not very hard so I will do my best to explain it so bear with me if I totally confuse you. I am not to good at computer geek speak LOL! Here goes!
First thing find a free kit or element you want to download. Lots of digital designers offer free kits to help get people to buy their kits. Most kits are very reasonably priced and think of them as supplies that NEVER run out. Lots of designers offer freebies in their blogs too. One blog I like is Designs That Rawk!. She does awesome work & thanks so much for the freebies. One of her new freebies is Cora by Amanda Roberts. So go to her blog to find it.
Now click on Download 4 Share under the picture of the kit. Most downloads have an area that says download here or click on the kits picture to start to download.
Now when you click on the download link it will either take you to the area to download or it will open the box to download. For this kit it opens up the 4 Shared Free File Sharing site. Scroll down a bit and you will see Download File underlined click on that. You computers file download box will pop up. Now click on Save. The Save As box will pop up. Pick where you would like to save the file. I have a special folder just for my digital scrapbooking items and I download it into there. Click save and your download will start. Most downloads take between a few minutes to 30 or 40 minutes depending on the size of the file. This one will take my computer appx 20 minutes. It may take you less if you are on a high speed connection. I am just one step up from dial up so it takes me a little longer.
After you finish downloading the file go to the folder where you downloaded it and you will see a zip file there. Double click on the zip file, click extract all files and the extraction wizard will pop up. Click next and pick the place you would like to extract it to. I have folders for paper kit ect. Now click next again and it will extract the file to the place you would like it. After it is extracted I delete the zip file since I do not need it anymore and it help saves space on the computer. Now you can click on the folder and open it up and look at all the goodies.
When you use the freebies and publish it anywhere including your blog be sure to note the designers to pay them the credit they are due. These designers are very talented and to give their work away is so kind so give them the thanks they deserve. Also be sure to read the info that comes with the kit on how you can use the product.
WOW! Now if you are not thoroughly confused go get some freebies!! But don't blame me when you are a total addict like myself LOL!!
If I have you confused just ask me and I will try to help you out.
Here is a fab blog that is a great guide to freebies.

I Challenge You!!! ~ Week #5

Another week is here, time for another challenge. So how did you do last week?? I got mine done , post coming soon. So here is this weeks challenge. Good Luck!!!
Background: Plaid
Embellishments/Accents: Fabric
Color combinations: no white on the page
Tools: stamps

Princess Rachel ~ Digital Page

I made this 8x8 page with digital elements I downloaded from Miss BonBon (thanks for the fab freebie!!). I made it 8x8 because I do not have a 12 x12 printer. I used my scrapbook Factory Deluxe (I found it at Goodwill, new in box, for only.....$2!!! My buy of the year!!) program to put it all together. I think it turned out super cute!

Photos of Week #3 Challenge

WHOO HOOO I Got It Done!!! I am not sure I like how it turned out but it is done!! Here it is:

I created my own circle stamp to do the paint circles & I used a circle cutter with a craft knife to make all the paper circles. I used The Gimp photo editing software (this is a free software I downloaded & it is a lot like PaintShop. Google The Gimp to find this software.) I really love how the photo turned out. I found yellow and red to be a hard combination to use.

I Challenge You!!! ~ Week #4

OK OK I am a little behind on last weeks challenge but I hope to get it done this weekend. This weeks challenge is a fun one. Here it is:
Download and use 3 things from the Internet
Here are some ideas for things to download. There are tons of sites that have free printables. Here is one of my favs:
Free Printable Scrapbook Themes
Belle's Printables
This Site has a lot of different themes to choose from. I also like to use digital scrapbooking items and there are so many freebies out there. Here are a few of the sites with freebies to download:
Lucky Bug Digital Scrapbooking
The Digi Chick Freebies
Pixel Paint Paper
Laura Skathi Freebies
Sometimes you will need to sign up for the newsletter to be able to download the freebies.
Another great way to find freebies is to Google: Free scrapbooking printables or Free digital scrapbooking downloads. You will find a ton of stuff!! Be careful it is addicting. Good luck & I can't wait to see the pages!!!
